I stayed in a villa called Mere (pronounced “Mary”), and some of my favorite moments of the whole trip happened right there on the patio, listening to the rain fall through the jungle while I worked on my laptop! Namale Resort & Spa sits on Vanua Levu, Fiji’s northern island, and it’s an adults-only, all-inclusive boutique resort spread across more than 500 acres of rainforest, rugged coastline, and cliffs right over the ocean. Meals, drinks, and a lot of the activities are all included, so you can settle into vacation mode almost as soon as you arrive. What really sets Namale apart, though, is how private and personal the whole place feels. Here’s what I loved (and what I’d tell you not to miss)!
A villa that felt like my own private retreat
One of the things I loved most about Namale was how private the villas felt. Every villa has its own name instead of a room number, which makes the resort feel personal right away! Mere sits away from the main pathways, and like a lot of the villas on the property, it felt completely secluded, with thick tropical greenery all around it. The air conditioning in the bedroom was excellent (very important in Fiji!), there was plenty of space to spread out, and that outdoor balcony quickly became one of my favorite spots on the entire property. The villas are positioned so you rarely feel like you’re sharing space with anyone else, so if you want a resort where you can truly disconnect and have some privacy, Namale is a great choice.
The food was outstanding
At an all-inclusive, the food is a huge part of the trip, and Namale did not disappoint! Everything we ate was consistently excellent, with a real focus on fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation, and it never felt stuffy or overly formal. Whether we were lingering over breakfast or sitting down to dinner after a day exploring the property, every dish felt like someone had put real care into it. I also really appreciated that the meals never got repetitive, which honestly can happen at all-inclusive resorts. There was a lot of variety from one day to the next, and starting the morning with breakfast overlooking the water and ending it with a gorgeous dinner made every meal feel a little more special. The resort also has different dining spots and private dining experiences around the property, which is perfect if you’re celebrating something! If you’ve ever worried that “all-inclusive” means giving up quality, Namale proves it doesn’t have to.
The most unexpected feature: the game room!
I did not expect an adults-only resort to have one of the best game rooms I’ve ever seen! The recreation center has 2 bowling lanes, 2 private movie theaters with recliners, air hockey, board games and cards, snacks, refrigerators stocked with drinks, and Bluetooth speakers you can hook up to your own music. It turned into a really fun place to hang out in the evenings, and it’s a completely different vibe from typical resort nightlife. Whether you want a little bowling competition, a movie night for 2, or just somewhere to hang out with other guests, it’s such a great addition to the property.
The spa was my favorite part
If there’s one thing I’d tell every future guest not to miss, it’s the spa! Namale’s award-winning spa sits above the ocean, so the views are incredible before you even step into a treatment room. We each got to choose a treatment, and after some hesitation, I tried a traditional Fijian Bobo massage, which the therapist does using their feet. I’ll admit it sounded a little unusual when I first read about it, but my thought process was simple: when in Fiji! I’m so glad I went for it. It was incredibly relaxing, I walked out feeling completely renewed, and the complimentary foot scrub beforehand was a lovely way to start.
What makes the spa even better is that you can use the hydrotherapy and aromatherapy areas whether or not you have a treatment booked! There are cold plunge pools, hot tubs, waterfall massage features, a sauna, and soaking tubs where you can pick your own aromatherapy salts. We spent a lot of time in those spaces, and with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the ocean, it was so easy to lose track of time. It was easily one of my favorite parts of the whole stay.
So many beautiful photo spots
If you love taking travel photos, you’re going to have so much fun at Namale! The whole resort is naturally photogenic, with lush pathways, big ocean views, private decks, and quiet corners all over the property. It felt like every time I turned a corner there was another beautiful spot, whether it was a little seating area over the water, a winding garden path, or a lookout framed by greenery. What I loved most is that none of it felt staged, so you can get those polished shots and the more personal ones you’ll actually want to look back on. For couples and honeymooners especially, there are so many romantic spots for pictures!
Leave your mark (literally!)
One of the most memorable parts of our stay happened right before we left. At check-out, guests can make their own custom concrete stepping stone that becomes part of the resort grounds, and once you start looking, you’ll notice hundreds of them all over the property from past guests! It’s such a sweet tradition. We made our own and left it alongside everyone else’s, and the idea of coming back someday to search for your stone is a big part of why I think Namale has so many repeat guests. If you go, keep an eye out for mine!
My final thoughts on Namale
Namale has a really special mix of privacy, luxury, and genuine Fijian hospitality. The all-inclusive setup makes it so easy to relax, the villas feel truly secluded, and the food impressed me every single day. For me, though, the spa was the best part! Between the Bobo massage, the hydrotherapy areas, and those ocean views, it’s one of the most memorable spa experiences I’ve had anywhere. If you’re a couple or honeymooner looking for a peaceful, adults-only resort in Fiji that feels personal from the minute you arrive, Namale is one I’d absolutely put on your list.
If Namale (or Fiji in general!) has caught your eye and you’re not sure where to start, that’s where I come in! Book a complimentary consultation with me!
